“Can I use a Halti?” or “Can I use an anti-bark collar?” …
These are the Kennel Club guidelines…
Toys Food & Clickers
Toys, food and clickers can be useful training aids. During a testing session, unless required as part of the exercise, they should not be carried in the hand or used during the test exercises.
Slip Leads and Body Harnesses
Dogs should be presented for test on a collar and lead with the name and the address of the owner inscribed on the collar or on a plate or tag attached to it. Slip leads, all in one leads or body harnesses (unless required due to a dog’s genuine medical condition) are not permitted during a test.
Muzzles
These are not permitted to be used during Puppy Foundation Assessments, or Bronze, Silver and Gold Award testing sessions.
Halti’s & Head Collars
During testing sessions, the Examiner should satisfy themselves that when the Halti/Head Collar is removed, the dog will remain under control. This applies to all exercises. Therefore, if an Examiner requests that a student performs the entire test without the dog wearing this equipment, this must be adhered to.
Citronella or Anti-bark Collars
These are not permitted to be used during a Good Citizen Dog Scheme test.
Electric Shock Collars, Spike or Pinch Collars
These are not permitted to be used during Good Citizen Dog Scheme training sessions, Puppy Foundation courses, or Bronze, Silver and Gold Award testing sessions.
Whistles
These may be used during training and testing session
